Preheat oven to 275°. Sauté mushrooms in butter; place on bottom of a well-greased 8-inch square baking dish. Top with bacon and then the cheese. Combine eggs, salt and pepper; pour over layered ingredients. Bake 45 minutes or until top is golden brown. Do not overcook.
To Prepare in advance: Assemble up to the point of pouring the egg mixture over the layered ingredients. This “delight” can also be frozen after baking and reheated.
