Stir together ricotta cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla until smooth. Spread 8 bread slices with mixture; top with remaining bread, like a sandwich. In bowl, beat eggs and milk. Add butter to frying pan over medium heat. dip bread in egg mixture to saturate. Fry on each side until golden brown, about 5 minutes for each side. Place strawberry slices on top. Pour syrup over sandwich, and dust with powdered sugar.
