Combine salmon, egg, onion and flour in a medium bowl; set aside. In a small bowl, mix together reserved salmon liquid and baking powder; stir into salmon mixture. Form into 4 patties. Heat oil in a large skillet over medium heat; add patties. Cook until golden on both sides. Sprinkle with salt and pepper.
