Coat pecans with butter and spread in one layer in a 10x15-inch baking pan. Bake at 300° for 20 minutes, stirring after 10 minutes. Melt chocolate almond bark in a heavy saucepan over low heat. Cool 2 minutes. Stir in toasted pecans, coating well. Drop by rounded teaspoons onto wax paper. If desired, melt white bark and drizzle over. Let stand until cool.
Fun Fact: Almond bark is an artificial chocolate made with vegetable fats instead of cocoa butter, and with coloring and flavors added. Also known as vanilla-flavored candy coating, it is sold in 24-ounce packages — vanilla or chocolate —in the baking aisle, and sort of resembles an ice cube tray with easy-to-cut-apart 2-ounce cubes. You can also find it in round discs where candy supplies are sold.
