Stir water, sugar, and cinnamon together in bottom of 7x11-inch baking dish; stir in apples. Mix brown sugar, flour, and butter with fingers until crumbly, and sprinkle on top. Bake in 350° oven for 35 minutes and serve warm.
Variations:
English Apple Pie. Slice 8 medium tart apples into buttered 9-inch pie pan and sprinkle with 1/2 cup sugar. Mix 1 cup flour, 1/2 cup brown sugar, 1/2 cup chopped pecans (optional) and 1/2 cup butter together; pat on top and bake at 350° for 30 minutes.
