Place the corn in a microwave-safe dish. Add water and cover with waxed paper or plastic film. Pierce the paper several times and microwave on HIGH for 5-6 minutes. Let stand in microwave for 1 minute to complete cooking. Remove waxed paper or plastic wrap carefully to prevent being scalded by the steam.
Variation: Many corn lovers believe that microwaving corn in the husks brings out more of the natural corn flavor. Just remove any outer husks that are wilted or soiled and follow the above instructions. The silks will pull away easily after cooking.
