Pour butter into 9x13x2-inch baking pan; set aside. In mixing bowl, combine brown sugar, flour, eggs, vanilla, baking soda, and salt; mix well. Stir in pecans. Spread over butter. Bake at 350° for 30–35 minutes. Remove from oven, and immediately dust with confectioners’ sugar. Cool before cutting.
Editor's Extra: The trick of softening brown sugar in the microwave really works great. Simply put the open box alongside a cup of hot water and microwave on HIGH for 2 minutes or so.
