"What's Betty's name doing on my potato peeler? Wait a minute, Betty's name is on a lot of stuff in my kitchen!" Betty Crocker has been such a trusted expert in all matters of the kitchen that her name has been applied to a wide variety of products, from cheese slicers to recipe cards and note pads, to bakeware and even to small kitchen appliances. It all began in 1946 when her name was applied to the Tru-Heat iron, which was actually manufactured by General Mills. The company eventually expanded the line to about seven appliances before discontinuing its manufacturing venture in 1954. But Betty's name continues to be licensed today. Of course, her name doesn't go on a product until it has been thoroughly tested by experts in the Betty Crocker Kitchens and declared worthy of such an honor.
