Sloppy Joes With A Difference |

2 tablespoons butter or margarine
1 onion medium chopped
1/2 green bell pepper large, chopped
1 clove garlic minced
2 teaspoons worcestershire sauce or to taste
1 teaspoon brown sugar
1 teaspoon dry mustard
1/2 teaspoon salt
3/4 cup ketchup or chili sauce
1/2 teaspoon cider vinegar
1 1/2 cups beef chopped cooked
4 hamburger buns
Butter or margarine
Crisp pickle chips
Melt 2 tablespoons butter or margarine in large skillet; add onion, pepper, and garlic. Cook, stirring occasionally, for 10 minutes or until limp. Add Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, dry mustard, salt, catsup or chili sauce, and vinegar; simmer, uncovered, 10 minutes to blend flavors. Add beef and simmer until hot and bubbly.* To serve, split buns, spread lightly with soft butter or margarine and toast under broiler. Spoon hot meat sauce over buns and serve with pickles.
* At this point, mixture can be cooled, covered, and refrigerated up to 24 hours. If mixture becomes too thick, thin with tomato juice or beef broth.
