Combine 3 tablespoons flour, salt, thyme and pepper toss with meat. In a skillet or large saucepan brown the meat in 3 tablespoons of oil. Drain off the fat. Put carrots, potatoes, onion and apple in crockpot. Top with browned meat cubes. Combine apple cider and vinegar pour over the top of ingredients in crockpot. Cover and cook on low for 10-12 hours. Turn cooker to high. Blend 1/4 cup flour with 1/2 cup cold water and stir into stew. Cover and cook an additional 15 minutes or until thickened. Season to taste
