Fresh Peach Crisp

Ingredients

1 cup flour
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup firmly packed light brown sugar
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 cup margarine
4 cups sliced fresh peaches
1/4 teaspoon almond extract
2 tablespoons water
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
whipping cream

Directions:

Combine first 5 ingredients. Cut in margarine with a pastry blender until mixture resembles coarse cornmeal. Set aside.

Combine peaches, almond extract, and water. Spoon into a greased 9-inch square baking dish. Sprinkle flour mixture over peaches. Sprinkle nutmeg on top. bake covered in a 350° oven for 15 minutes. Remove cover and bake 35–45 minutes longer or until the topping is brown. Serve warm with whipped whipping cream.
