Sift together dry ingredients in a medium saucepan. Add cold milk; mix well. Bring to a boil over medium heat; cook until thickened, stirring constantly. Remove from heat. Add margarine and vanilla; mix well. Serve warm.
Tip: Spoon individual portions of pudding into mini canning jars for a sweet treat that can go right into picnic baskets.
