Betty Chromzack joined the WACs during World War II and was a cook in New Guinea and the Philippines until she was wounded. "I spent the following three and a half years in army and VA hospitals...where I learned that no matter how bad things get, they could be a lot worse." Betty's indomitable spirit led her through these trials, and she subsequently raised a family--and became a great baker. Betty bought a car with her prize money: "I call it the 'Chocolate Coconut Cruncher.'" Driven by strength and spirit like Betty's, no doubt the Cruncher will go far.
