Early Bake-Off® Contest winners had quite a lot to deal with when they returned to their hometowns--their new celebrity took all sorts of shapes. When pregnant Dorothy De Vault won the Grand Prize for her Spicy Apple Twists in the tenth Bake-Off® Contest, she used her prize money to build a new family home. "Our long-desired girl arrived early the morning of May 12," Dorothy wrote to Pillsbury, "and of course we think she is quite a doll. People say we should name her 'Apple Twist,' but we used Melinda Joanne instead. I did have to promise Apple Twists for the nurses as soon as I got back home, though."
