In a skillet over medium-high heat, cook beef patties with mushrooms until patties are browned and cooked through. Meanwhile, warm pasta sauce in a saucepan over low heat. Spread one side of each bread slice with butter. On a griddle over medium-high heat, grill bread slices butter-side down until golden. For each sandwich, place one bread slice on a sandwich plate, grilled-side down. Top with a generous scoop of sauce, a beef patty, some mushrooms, more sauce and one to 2 cheese slices. Add another bread slice, grilled-side up, and slice to serve.
Tip: Sandwiches are a tasty mealtime solution when family members will be dining at different times. Fix sandwiches ahead of time, wrap individually in aluminum foil and refrigerate. Pop them into a toaster oven or under a broiler to heat...fresh, full of flavor and ready whenever you are!
