Brown sausage in a large skillet over medium heat. Drain on paper towels; set aside. In the same skillet, brown beef with onion, green pepper and mushrooms; drain. In a large slow cooker, combine sauce, sausage, beef mixture and wine, if using; stir. Cover and cook on low setting for 4 hours. Serve sauce over cooked pasta; garnish with cheeses and pine nuts, if desired.
Tip: Make a warm loaf of crostini for dinner...a tasty go-with for pasta. Slice a loaf of Italian bread into 1/2-inch slices. Brush olive oil over both sides of each slice; sprinkle with coarse salt. Bake in a 300-degree oven for 20 minutes, or until toasty, turning once.
