Sift first 3 ingredients. Beat eggs until thick, 5 minutes. Add granulated sugar slowly, continuing to beat. Stir in vanilla, then dry ingredients. Quickly stir in hot milk, 1 tablespoon butter. Pour in pan, bake 25 minutes at 350 degrees. Meanwhile, work 1/4 cup butter and cream until creamy. Add brown sugar, nuts. Spread nut mixture on top of cake when done. Broil until golden brown. Be careful, top browns quickly! Serve warm, cut in squares
