Melt shortening in skillet. Add onions and sauté for 3 minutes. Add chicken and brown on each side. Sprinkle with paprika, salt and pepper. Cover and simmer for 1 hour. Remove chicken. Stir together milk and soup until smooth. Gradually stir into chicken drippings. Add more milk if needed. Heat through. Serve over noodles.
NOTE: Decrease cooking time by approximately 30 minutes if using boneless chicken. Cook just until meat is no longer pink in the center.
