Heat oil in skillet. Add steak and cook on medium high heat for 5 to 7 minutes on each side until browned. Slice onion and put on top of steak pieces. Sprinkle with salt and pepper. Add 3 cups water and bouillon. Stir until bouillon is dissolved. Bring to boil. Reduce heat to low and simmer 2 to 3 hours, adding more water as needed. Remove steaks and onion slices. Thicken slightly by adding 2 tablespoons cornstarch to 1/4 cup cold water and gradually pour into boiling juices, stirring constantly. Stir until smooth and pour over steaks and onions.
