Beat together starter, egg, vegetable oil and dry milk. In a small bowl, combine salt, baking soda or baking powder and sugar blend until smooth. Sprinkle over batter and fold in gently. Let batter rest a few minutes. The baking soda or baking powder will cause a foaming action in the batter. Fry dollar-size pancakes on a hot, lightly-greased griddle.
* Baking powder gives sourdough flavor more tang than does the baking soda.
