The original recipe called for 1½ cups of maple syrup. I played around with it and came up with the following. After you taste it, I doubt you will ever use canned cranberry sauce again!
1. In medium saucepan, combine cranberries, syrup and water and bring to boil. Reduce heat and simmer for 5 minutes, until berries start to pop.
2. Add maple flavoring, orange zest, and ginger. Cook a few minutes. Stir in arrowroot and simmer until thickened. Stir in sweetener. Mix thoroughly. Cool and refrigerate.
