Method Instructions
Baking Pierce potatoes with fork and oil lightly, if desired. Place the potatoes in a baking pan, or wrap them in foil and place directly on the oven rack. Bake in 350°F. oven until tender, about 1 hour.
Microwaving Pierce potatoes with fork and arrange spoke-fashion on a microwave-safe dinner plate. Cook on high power until tender, about 6 minutes for 1 potato 12 minutes for 2.
Steaming Steam small potatoes whole cut larger ones into chunks or slices. Cook in a steamer basket set over boiling water until tender.
Boiling In a large saucepan, cover potatoes with cold water and bring to a boil. Reduce heat to a simmer and cook until tender, 15 to 25 minutes.
Grilling Lightly oil potatoes and pierce with fork. Wrap whole or sliced potatoes in two layers of foil. Set the potatoes directly into the coals and cook until tender.
