Rice Boiling Salt Simmering Yield
(1 cup uncooked) water (optional) time
Brown Rice 2 1/2 cups 1 teaspoon 45 to 50 minutes 3 cups
Converted Rice 2 1/4 cups 1 teaspoon 20 minutes 4 cups
Instant Rice 1 cup 1 teaspoon Add rice to boiling water and 2 cups
remove from heat. Do not simmer.
Regular Long-Grain White 2 cups 1 teaspoon 15 to 20 minutes 3 cups

Wild Rice 4 cups 1 teaspoon 45 to 60 minutes 4 cups
