1. Make a paste of the ginger, garlic, and 2 Tbsp water.
2. Sauté onion in oil until brown. Add all spices and chicken and yogurt continue to cook, sprinkling with additional water as required to keep from sticking.
3. Cook until chicken browns (about 10 minutes). Add 1 cup of water and let simmer on low heat for about 45 minutes or until chicken is tender.
4. Add chopped tomato after about 30 minutes. Before serving, add cilantro.
