My favorite Chinese dishes include chicken cashew (lots of veggies with a little chicken and a few cashews) over rice, and any of the other Chinese dishes that focus mainly on stir-fried vegetables, using meat as the condiment and avoiding deep frying.
If you bring the food home to eat, you can use your own brown rice that you cook and freeze in quantity. You can also use low-sodium soy sauce. Otherwise, a little white rice now and then is not a bad choice. Be moderate with the soy sauce.
If you are sensitive to MSG (monosodium glutamate), which is actually a drug, not a spice, ask the restaurant to please leave MSG out of your order-that is, if they usually put it in. Also, if you have an intolerance toward MSG, you may need an extra B vitamin supplement in your diet. Some studies suggest an increased tolerance toward MSG when a vitamin B supplement is taken.
