Chili or vegetable-stuffed baked potatoes with cheese and onions on top are good eating-out choices. Omit the cheese sauce and you've just turned your "B" potato into an "A" potato.
I generally order a large garden salad and then remove most of the cheese. It is very helpful to bring your own nonfat salad dressing from home because many of the dressing packets contain as many as 30 fat grams. Cottage cheese is also an excellent addition to your salad. Even regular cottage cheese, that isn't "lowfat," is much lower in fat than most salad dressings. Ask your waiter to please bring some cottage cheese on the side and bring the salad dressing on the side if it isn't low in fat. Some restaurants are now offering lowfat and fat free dressings.
