Juice is a far superior choice to soft drinks. However, it takes 3 whole oranges to make 1 glass of orange juice, and it is high in natural fruit sugar (fructose).
What's missing? Most of the fiber-an essential element for optimal health and fat loss. The solution is to usually eat the whole fruit or the whole vegetable and drink juice once or twice a week as a fun refresher. If you have an extremely sensitive system that does not tolerate fiber well, you may wisely opt to drink juice more often. For a fun taste treat, mix 1 cup of fresh fruit juice with 1/3 cup of Sprite or 7-Up. (This is not for diabetics or for those who are highly resistant to fat loss = "B+" Choice.)
Variation: Juice Popsicle--Freeze all-natural fruit juice in popsicle or ice cube trays. A summer sensation!
*"Juice" receives an "A-" rating, "juice with 7-Up or Sprite" receives a "B+", and "Fruit Gelatin" and "Fruit Syrup" receive "A"s. In the case of syrup and gelatin, fruit-juice sweetened varieties are by far the most nutritious choices available and therefore receive "A"s. They should be eaten in moderation with a meal, never on an empty stomach. In the case of juice, it receives an "A-" because it does have a superior choice-the WHOLE fruit!
