Beat together sugar and butter in mixing bowl. Add eggs. Add dry ingredients and stir until blended. Stir in apples and walnuts. Pour into greased and floured 9 x 13-inch baking dish. Pour sauce over top and bake at 350°F for 60 minutes.
SAUCE: Combine ingredients in saucepan and cook over low heat just until sugar is dissolved.
