Pour boiling water over oats cover and let stand 10 minutes. Beat butter until creamy and gradually add sugars. Beat until fluffy. Blend in vanilla and eggs. Add oat mixture. Mix well. Stir flour, baking soda and spices together and add to cream mixture. Mix well. Pour batter into well greased and floured 9 x 13-inch pan. Bake at 350°F for 50 to 55 minutes.
