Beat together butter, shortening, sugars, eggs and vanilla until creamy. Combine flour salt, baking powder and soda. Stir in oats. Add to creamed mixture. Stir in coconut and nuts. Shape into balls the size of a walnut and place on greased baking sheet. Flatten with fork. Bake at 350°F for 12 to 15 minutes until edges start to turn brown.
