Beat together butter, sugars and eggs. Stir in vanilla. Add flour, soda and salt and mix until blended. Do not over mix. Stir in chocolate chips and walnuts. Drop dough by rounded tablespoons onto ungreased cookie sheet. Bake at 300°F for 20 minutes.
