1. Preheat waffle iron.
2. Whisk together in large bowl flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda and salt until light.
3. Beat together buttermilk, oil, and egg yolks until smooth. Stir in banana. Add to dry ingredients, stirring until well blended.
4. Stir in pecans.
5. Beat egg whites until stiff and fold into the batter.
6. Bake in waffle iron until golden brown.
