To make biscuits:
1. Heat oven to 425°.
2. Combine flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda and salt in large mixing bowl.
3. Add butter and mix on low setting of mixer until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
4. Add buttermilk and lightly mix with fork until all of the flour mixture is moistened.
5. Dump onto floured surface and knead just until smooth.
6. Roll dough into 1-inch thick rectangle and cut into 12 squares with pizza cutter. Place on cookie sheet and brush tops with butter.
7. Bake for 13 to 15 minutes until golden brown.
To make gravy:
1. Crumble sausage in large skillet. Cook over medium-high heat until brown. Drain off excess oil.
2. Sprinkle flour over sausage and stir until flour is absorbed into meat.
3. Add milk and bring to a boil, stirring constantly, scraping bottom of pan to release any remaining bits of sausage.
4. Stir in salt and pepper.
To serve:
1. Slice biscuits in half and top with gravy.
